While I was out taking some product photos for a client I also took some images for myself.

It was a lovely winter morning with frost on the trees, a few degrees below zero and beautiful warm light.

These photoshoots in nature are my absolute favorite way to shoot products, these were shot in natural light with a little help from a small pocket size led light on a crisp winter morning in Espoo.

I love finding natural backgrounds for products that create a unique look to the images.

The night before this shoot the weather forecast was looking promising for some fog, and I planned to head out again.

However this time the fog didn’t appear, or at least where I had originally planned to shoot.

As the harsh sunlight didn’t make the conditions very good for landscape photography, I decided to focus on smaller details instead.

And also location scout a possible new location.

The weather forecast was looking promising for a nice sunrise, so it was time to head into the woods again. This time the location was going to be Nuuksio National Park, and as I was hoping for morning haze I decided to head to this spot overlooking a valley.

This time the location choice was spot on and quite surprisingly I had the whole place to myself.

Woke up at six and originally headed to Stömfors in Pyhtää for some sunrise photography, blissfully unaware of a setting supermoon, which had I left an hour earlier would have resulted in some pretty nice pictures. However as I was looking at said setting moon from behind the wheel of my car, I came to the realization that I was going to be late. Not only was I late for the moon I was also about a week late for peak fall colors, I walked around for a while, then came to the conclusion that all I was going to achieve from this location were some pretty “meh” photos.

At this time the sun had already risen above the horizon and as there was no noticeable color in the sky I abandoned the idea of a photoshoot and decided to head for a little walk in Valkmusa National Park, on the border of Pyhtää and Kotka.

However after I a short drive I started to see some morning haze glimmering in the forest, and got a bit exited about a possibility of a hazy bog. As I pulled up to the parking lot I was again exited to head for my walk on the bog with my camera.

After a short hike it became quite clear that my excitement was not in vain. These are the pictures I captured on that morning, as a bonus there’s also a picture of previously mentioned super moon from the following evening.
