Tuesday morning well spent checking out a new location, despite the muddy paths and a hole in the boots.
Not the greatest light or conditions this time, but still some okay photos in the end.
On an overcast day like today this spot turned to be quite difficult to photograph as I didn’t want to use too much of the sky, that had next to no definition on it, in the frame, slippery muddy paths and it being my first time in this location.
Anyhow I will definitely return to this location next summer and a bit earlier in the fall when hopefully the ground will be easier to walk on.
This reminded me of the importance of revisiting locations in different conditions and different times of year.
As interesting and exciting it is to go to new locations and to travel around, you often get the best photos in locations that you’re familiar with. You know where to go, where to look, how the weather and conditions will affect the scenery, and whats around the corner, which makes planning your shots and reacting to situations a whole lot easier.
So scouting new locations, maybe even without taking photos is crucial for improving as a photographer.
Tip: take photos and video on your phone and make notes in new locations, it’ll help…
